What is Unclaimed Royalty?

Unclaimed royalty is royalty that has been collected by LMKN but has not yet been distributed to the author or related rights owner.

This usually happens because the author or rights owner data is incomplete, they are not registered as an LMK member, or song ownership information does not match the data in the system. As stipulated in the Regulation of the Minister of Law Number 27 of 2025. Consequently, the royalty cannot be distributed yet.

Although not yet distributed, unclaimed royalty remains the right of the author and related rights owner. These funds are not forfeited or taken by other parties, but are stored and recorded by LMKN until the rights owner completes the data and submits a claim.

Therefore, it is important for authors and related rights owners to be registered with an LMK and ensure that their work data is correct and complete, so that the royalties entitled to them can be received on time.

Sesuai ketentuan Permenkum Nomor 27 Tahun 2025, royalti yang belum diklaim akan diumumkan kepada publik oleh LMKN selama jangka waktu 2 (dua) tahun. Pengumuman ini bertujuan untuk memberikan kesempatan kepada pencipta dan/atau pemilik hak terkait agar dapat mengajukan klaim dengan melengkapi data yang diperlukan.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

The Unclaimed Songs and/or Music List is a compilation of songs and/or music that cannot yet be further processed by LMKN and LMK/CMOs.

These songs and/or music cannot be processed for several reasons, including:
1. The royalties for such songs and/or music were not or have not yet been claimed by the LMK at the time of the distribution process;
2. The creator, copyright holder, and/or related rights owner of such songs and/or music has not been registered as a member of an LMK, therefore the royalty claim cannot yet be made; or
3. The use of the songs and/or music was reported by users without providing data regarding the creator, copyright holder, and/or related rights owner, so that the party entitled to receive the royalties cannot yet be identified.

LMKN publishes this Unclaimed Songs and/or Music List with the aim of encouraging public participation in completing and collecting the necessary data. Accordingly, the royalties associated with the songs and/or music in this list are expected to eventually be distributed to the rightful parties.

This Unclaimed Songs and/or Music List consists of thousands or even millions of records equipped with search and sorting features to facilitate creators, copyright holders, and related rights owners in submitting claims. These features are also intended for members of the public who wish to contribute information, so that the associated royalties can ultimately be distributed to the entitled parties.

The Unclaimed Songs and/or Music List displays information in the form of the song title, the name of the rights holder (if available), and the range of royalty value associated with the song and/or music. LMKN publishes the royalty value in the form of a range in order to protect the privacy of rights holders and to prevent potential misuse or other undesirable matters.

1. If you are a creator, copyright holder, and/or related rights owner, you may complete the claim submission form available on our website at xxx.id.
2. You may then upload the required data accompanied by evidence demonstrating that you are the party entitled to the royalties associated with the songs and/or music listed in the Unclaimed Songs and/or Music List.
3. LMKN will conduct verification of all data and documents that have been uploaded.
4. Once the data has been verified, the royalty distribution will be processed promptly in accordance with the applicable provisions.
5. Rights holders are advised to join an LMK so that future claim and royalty management processes can be carried out by the LMK with which the rights holder is registered.
6. Indonesian LMKs, foreign LMKs, music publishers, music producers, and/or other parties requiring more detailed data than what is displayed may contact us at lmkn.id. The provision of such data will be subject to terms and conditions to be mutually agreed.
